我认为首先要明确问的人的身份，对于中国人应该说：what is this？这就够了，不必在意别人会怎样回答，因为我们自己没有说错。至于英国人，他们怎样说都可以，因为他们一般不会犯低级语法错误， 只是一时不了解别国的文化背景而已。
